The Irish Council For Civil Liberties, Ireland’s leading independent human rights NGO, is hosting an online training on the right to protest. Interested in how to plan or attend a protest? Wondering how COVID restrictions have affected your right to protest? Do the Black Lives Matter and Climate Strike movements have you wondering how you can get involved and raise your voice for a better future? Legal experts will answer these questions and more!
This virtual workshop with be an interactive training on your rights and obligations with regards to protest at every stage of the process – planning, attending, and what to do if you are arrested at a protest.
Doireann Ansboro is Senior Research and Policy Officer for the ICCL. She is called to the Bar of England, Wales and Ireland. She has previously worked as associate legal adviser to the International Commission of Jurists, consultant to the UN Special Rapporteur on truth, justice, reparations and guarantees of non-recurrence and human rights attache to the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the UN in Geneva. She holds an LLM in Human Rights Law from the University of Nottingham, an LLB (Graduate) from Nottingham Law School and a BA from Trinity College Dublin.
