Emotional Landscapes Visual Art Exhibition

A virtual Visual Art Exhibition with imagery, poetry, words, music and panel discussion. Inspired by an artistic response to peace, health and well-being, influences of the pandemic, and themes of fear, trauma, well-being, health and happiness intersecting with new borders of time and space in a changing landscape. This event features the launch of the Emotional Landscapes Visual Art Exhibition followed by a panel discussion inspired by a response to the emotional impact of Covid-19, ways to promote positive mental health and well-being and a reflection on the space that exists within and between us in a changing landscape.

The title for this unique virtual visual art and multi-disciplinary exhibition ‘Emotional landscapes’ was created by artist Noelle McAlinden from a series of creative conversations with writer, theatre and film-maker Mary Moynihan. The conversations continued to encompass the work of visual artist Hina Khan, violinist and composer Lisa Mc Loughlin and writer and choreographer Fiona Bawn Thompson bringing together different artists who, each in their own way, were responding to the changing emotional landscapes of our evolving world.

Eimear speaks about self-care and ways to look after your health and well-being under the current situation and ways forward for self-care in a changed world.

Emotional Landscapes is one of a number of events presented as part of the Smashing Times Creative Arts for Health and Well-Being hub, Art4Us and Creative Connections for a Brighter Future project – using the arts on a cross-border basis to promote peace, well-being and shared visions for a brighter future for all. Supported by Co-operation with Northern Ireland Funding Scheme 2020 at the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, the Community Foundation for Ireland and Erasmus+.

Acting for the Future

Acting for the Future uses participative drama workshops, professional theatre performances and post-show panel discussions with counsellors and clinical psychologists to promote positive mental health and raise awareness of suicide prevention with secondary schools, universities and community based youth and adult groups and the general public. As part of this project young people and adults develop a stronger awareness of the issues – positive mental health and suicide prevention – through a quality arts experience. More information here.

Creative Arts for Health and Well-Being Hub

Smashing Times have set up the Smashing Times Creative Arts for Health and Well-Being Hub, a new online interactive platform offering a range of services delivered online and through live streaming and presented into homes nationwide. The hub will offer a unique programme of creative activities for health and well-delivered online and made up of:

-Creative Arts for Health and Well-Being talks and Exercise Demonstrations

-Creative Arts for Health and Well-Being Workshops

-Creative Arts for Health and Well-Being Articles, Artworks, Tips for Art and Creativity and more

The aim is to use creative processes online to promote positive mental health and well-being and ways to overcome stress and anxiety and to build resilience. The programme consists of Creative Arts for Health and Well-Being talks, exercises demonstrations, readings, blogs, podcasts and workshops all conducted online.

The programme is available to all citizens and we want to reach out and connect with diverse communities including Travellers, refugees and asylum seekers, women’s groups and youth and community groups from areas designated as disadvantaged.

The work is presented in connection with Art Connects: At Home with Smashing Times, our online series of curated arts content, newsletters, and events. we are presenting an online talk and exercise demonstration on the theme of ‘Self-Care’.
